Now then, now then.

Chimney stacks.

Part of the reading what I has dun sez that the top 1/3 or so of clay dry chimneys were brick.

Nice.

However, my idea of fun is not trying to make a tapered brick chimney, so...

Kibri to the rescue:

So, 2 pages ago we had a hit list for finishing the clay dries. This is where we're up to...

1. Paint interior - done
2. Add clay mounds
3. Add front pillars and lintels - done
4. Fix on front bit of roof that is currently separate and join it to the pillars
5. Clad roof with 15thou sheet to keep the inside safe - started
6. Complete outside walls - done
7. Paint walls
8. Add roofing - started
9. Paint roofing

Definitely need to get the clay mounds added in as they are now holding everything else up.

Much happier with the chimney height now.

Not what I originally intended doing when walking into the train room but any step forward is a positive. It started with gluing in a bit of the rock casting that had come loose, which led to priming the polystyrene with PVA, which led to a spot of lightweight filler being added.

I've gone for trying to replicate a highly fractured slate. Not the sort of thing you could use for tiles but something found all around the Bodmin area if the geological maps are to be believed.
