Prototype Tim Mills' Photos

Peering through the grain at a greatly enlarged copy the B1 could be 61363, it was certainly allocated in the right part of the country, at the time of the photo Colchester shed. It has express pass headlamps so probably not a stopper.
61363 Straford 5/4/50, Colchester 6/1/57, Stratford 6/12/59, March 13/12/59, Cambridge 10/1/60, Stratford 17/6/62, March 16/9/62, Wdn 23/9/62,
Sold for scrap Central Wagon Co Ince 6/63.

Other contenders ruled out, 61263 Dundee, 61343 Thornton Junc, 61353 Darlington. Still only a maybe.

The N7 photo also brings the photography date into question. Nigel is quite correct the N7GE/1/2 class parts had all been built with Belpaire fireboxes. The first N7/3 introduced in 1927 had the round top firebox which became the class standard and all the earlier engines were rebuilt with round fireboxes between 1/44 and 9/56 with the exception of 69689 and 69695 which were both withdrawn with Belpaire fireboxes. Both engines were fitted with P&P gear which the photo subject has however 69689 went in 3/57, the first of the class to be wdn, and 69695 in 12/58 which suggests the photo is probably Aug 58 as Brian identified and therefore the N7/2 is 69695.

69689 was a Yarmouth engine at withdrawal so an unlikely candidate at Lvpool St.

69695 Kings X 24/8/27, Hatfield 5/12/28, Kings X 20/2/35, Hatfield 24/4/35, Bradford 31/1/42, Hatfield 15/10/43, Annesley 4/11/51, Ardsley 16/5/54,
Copley Hill 3/10/54, Plaistow 18/12/55, Tilbury 17/9/56, Stratford 31/8/58, Wdn 1/12/58, Cut up Stratford.

I wonder what it did at Plaistow and Tilbury given the proliferation of Stanier 3 cyl and BR 2-6-4Ts on the LT&S, not much I suspect.

69627 was rebuilt into a N7/5 (short travel valves) in 9/56 so it lasted with a Belpaire firebox quite late and was the last N7 rebuild.

Agreed that it can only be 69695, it was sent to Plaistow in '55 to work the Romford-Upminster-Grays services replacing the old M.R. 0-4-4t's.
Ref. R.C.&T.S. Locomotives of the LNER part 9A , which has down as withdrawn 12/58.
