Still feeling very under the weather and short of breath but have escaped the isolation ward and have ventured into the train room. Had a bit of a potter around and started putting bits properly away from the last demo show.
I then came across this box, which is a MDF "sheet store" storage kit
Sheet Store 2. This is the MK2 design.
The MK1 had the sheet rack parallel to the front and the slots were too small to accommodate most of the plasticard sheet sizes I have in stock. As such it sat unused and unloved in a corner for a couple of years.
I caught up with EBMA at a show about a year ago, highlighted the issue, and suggested that the sheet slots were turned parallel to the front. A prototype was seen at Guildex and looked spot on for what I wanted.
At the show last weekend EBMA wonderfully agreed to swap the MK1 I had for a MK2 kit. Very good of them, and it's now all made up:
Instructions for the kit are available online but i enjoyed the challenge of building it up without them. Like the previous units, it went together really nicely. The kit was complete, all parts were fully cut through, and fitted well to build up into a very rigid and robust unit.
The tool rack on the left above the drawers has been to a number of shows with no signs of wear. A nice touch on all the units are the magnets on the underside and sides that enable the units to grab each other when placed together but still enable them to be easily removable.
It's now been populated from the big, jumbled up plastic bag that I could never find anything in. The bag is no more, sad days.
Not quite sure where exactly it will live yet, but when not in use it will have a cloth over the top to stop UV affecting the plastics.
