Hi I'm probably going to ask loads of questions about these coaches for a starter I didn't order the etched window frames the chap at easybuild told me that a lot of these coaches didn't receive this modification
Looking at heathers MK1photos they don't seem to have them they do look good
John ;)

John

It depends on the coach, some BGs did have this especially in blue and grey days, but plenty of them went their whole lives without this mod. All my JLTRT coaches don't have them becuase JLTRT way of achieving this is poor, its part of the glazing and makes the frames far too thick. The etched frames from easybuild is the way to put this mod on, if you want it.

Hi Graham yes the pre group stuff is quite charming .As some of you may have noticed my modelling interests have changed slightly I really have got into the blue diesel thing I think that the diesels in 7mm really are quite impressive especially when fitted with sound but fear not pre group gang I will still be doing some pre group but there will be a lot more blue diesel stuff to

Hi John,

There is a BG at the NRM - in LNWR livery! Hint... hint... you know you want to.

The EZ-build sides are extrusions so a section through a side is fairly constant throughout the length of the side... and that section is pretty well the same for each kit. The ends are mouldings and there can be some variation in the size of the moulding (dependent upon factors outside of our control). So if the side does not match the end as supplied then either remove or add some material to the end and then file / sand to fit.

The plastic used for these kits is ABS so Slater's MEK-PAK does not work very well, I have used Plastic-Weld for our model.

There are some dimension issues with the "U" parts of the underframe truss as supplied for the long underframe of the passenger coaches, not sure if that problem crops up with the short underframe as used for the BG. Maybe Bob Reid can comment on the suitability of the relevant depth dimensions given on the drawing in Mk.1 Carriages (Parkin, HMRS). Our Mk.1 BFK underframe has had the parts modified as in this post.

Please post a photo of the etches so that we can see which V-hangers are included in this kit.

Exciting stuff John  .

regards, Graham

Hi Richard I agree the profile is not good all I did was put the sides in boiling water held it to the hopefully right shape and quenched it under cold water
