Rob, those three ceratinly add life to the scene. Like you I wasn't a great believer in figures mainly because in the days before 3D printing they always looked slightly grotesque. But with the advent of the likes of ModelU I've changed I still like to place most of them with their back to the audience or at least not looking directly out,as I'm not the best at painting faces. I also think quite often faces are too detailed considering we are looking at them form a scale distance at 50 -75 yards (0Gauge) and twice that in 00. I don't think I've ever guessed the colour of someones eyes from that sort of distance.

I go for the “two coach lengths” rule. Anything I can’t see from 120’ away doesn’t exist :)

Afternoon all,

A nice surprise today. A parcel arrived from a friend who sent me some figures.
Now, I'm not one for figures, preferring to suggest human involvement by the odd open door etc but these do add something to the overall scene....

Nice. Funnily enough I've always thought a few figures (and a sheep in a tree) would add something to the scene. I firmly believe that one area that we should have, rather than suggest, human involvement is in loco cabs. The absence of driver and fireman is normally quite noticeable.

Morning all,

Well, as we totter towards Christmas there is little to report other than I'm doing a bit extra in the shop, mainly to cover a bit of a staff shortage at present.

It's busy and reassuringly, we are seeing many new customers and crucially, lots of youngsters with Mums and Dads which suggests the state of the hobby is good at what really is grass roots level.

Rob,

How's the hoof?

Hi Phil,

The hoof is settling down but not fixed. It does ratherlook as if the main issue lies elsewhere but that's something to look into next year.

In the interim, I'm looking forward to starting on the new build and progressing SWAG'24. There is also an increasing likelihood of putting together a small show in Cardiff later in the year, of which more in due course.

So, for now and before it passes me by, may I take the opportunity to wish everyone here on a Happy Christmas and a festive season that brings you all that you hope for.

Rob, a Merry Christmas to you also
I'm pleased we at long last met at Uckfield. It is always good to put a face to someone one chats to on the tinternet.
Hope the hooves heal well and that you and your family have a great Christmas and New Year.

Rob,

Just arrived home from the pub, to see a place on Country File, called Sheepy Magna, in East Anglia and immediately thought about your GE layout.
