I do like your colour-coded cutting plan. When I get around to building some baseboards, I think I'll be stealing that idea, as it's so much clearer than a black & white version would be.

It's taken a while to work out exactly how I made the other three but it's coming back to me now.... Feel free to borrow any ideas that you find useful, I'm not proud.

Much less progress than hoped over the weekend...the was the cleaning out of the garage, the putting up of Christmas lights, going to the Birmingham German Market and of course the fact it was flipping freezing outside.
Lots of marking up and number crunching done first - fag packet designs:
... Then marking up the baseboard top (don't get excited, it's placed of one of the current boards)...
...and then I let rip with the power tools...
...and a selection of profiles were produced...

My guess is that, despite having more wheels, and being rather bigger, it'll be less of a fight than a certain pannier.
Thinking back 18 years or so, my second 7mm loco, and first brass kit was a Martin Finney 47xx 2-8-0. It took a while to build, but the outstanding quality of the design, and etches, and the very thorough instructions, made it an almost ideal choice. It did take some determined fettling to get it to run sweetly through a Peco crossover, but I got there in the end.

That looks better than the Carriage & Wagon one I built. I hope yours will be named Bodmin.
I have a DJB M7, that I have robbed a few parts from. It is for me but I thought if I build it and pass it on I can get a Finney7 one. I also would like a Radial and possible the T3. Think I better start upping the output, the exchange rate had been horrible for sometime, so I need to get pounds.

Really enjoying the change of scene from building stock (and THAT loco) to working on the layout. Lots done over the lat month (board, track, platform and lots of planning) but I suspect progress will tail off over Christmas. Don't worry I'll keep posting here and RMweb when there's something to see.

And a start being made at the back corner. I've sunk the grain store down to about the right level and built up the back to road level. There's walls, steps, gates and embankments to go in but hopefully the picture of what I'm aiming for is building.
Mostly built out of foam board, something I'm trying instead of ply to keep board weight down.
Photos show that the raised corner had a petrol station, cafe and bank of trees behind a road. I don't have spacee for all that but intend having a shell totem, small low relief cafe building and some greenery behind a narrow (under- scale) road.
