That's an interesting idea Simon. I think key to getting the end result to look right is getting accurate and consistent spacing of the window bars. Lasering grooves in the acrylic would definitely achieve that. How thick is the acrylic you use?

I don't know much about Trotec, is it much like the Rowmark that York Model Making use? I have previously used their products in 4mm for wooden window frames but their minimum bar width and the material thickness would be too much for this project.

Keep the ideas coming folks.

Chris,

the Acrylic I have is 1.6mm.

don’t know much about Trotec as I haven’t used it. I fear it is ferociously expensive, and I’m not sure it’s possible to get thin sheets. @Giles uses it lots, hopefully he’ll chip in.

I think the thinnest Trotec is 30thou or .75mm. I got some to use with my Emblaser, but apart from a few small tests, haven't made great use of it yet. I can't remember the price right now, but it was expensive. :(:(

I normally have some 0.5mm thick, but I'm out of that at the moment..... I do have some sheets (not actual Trotec, but similar) about 0.2mm thick - very fine. What's needed?

On a completely unrelated note, Stu tipped me off about the existence of this book.

View attachment 126280

The book covers a good selection SR and GWR locations in ranging geographically from Penzance to Bristol and the Isle of Wight.

It includes shots in my NCR interest area and some nice ones of Bodmin North as an additional bonus.
Hi Chris, is it paperback? Looks hard back from your photo? One on eBay paperback that’s all was tempted but paperback

Hi
More of a very high quality card back book.
Highly recommended, as with all Twelveheads books.
Best regards
Mark

Apologies folks for not yet responding to your questions / suggestions about windows. Suddenly got very busy at work as clients realise they need to get work done. Plus quite a few domestic jobs.

Not much in the way of modelling over the last few months. It ground to a sharp halt when I moved No1 son out of his bedroom and into the train room in order to do some heavy duty decorating.

Started with the idea of just a spot of paint and a new carpet. But scope creep occurred...
