And, to coincide with this, we have a new addition to the fleet. Joining the stock for the long term East Anglian, 1960s set diesel project is one of the new and wholly excellent Class 30, Brush Type 2 jobs from Accurascale.
That's brought memories flooding back - my very first loco as a youngster was a Green Lima 31 (30?). That effort from Accurascale looks top notch.

Hi Adrian.
Speaking as a former owner of a Triang 31, much later an Airfix rendition and a Hornby offering ( three years ago ) , yes, the Accurascale versions are the best out there. I have no hesitation in recommending these and will no doubt obtain more in the future.
Bachmann's contemporary version is very, very good but A/S just edges it for me. I can't put my finger on it but it just seems a bit finer ( though I think Bachmann's finish has a slight edge )

I say this not as an expert on the breed but simply working on the basis that if it looks right, it probably is.

This one will be fitted with sound in due course and will really look the part with my Accurascale Type 3 which is equally excellent.

They just need a layout to play on now.

Red rods for the Victory as well?
John.

Morning John,

Funny that. I am thinking of that but the stumbling block is that I'm not sure of just how long I'll retain the Kerr Stuart. He's such a big chap and whenever I give him a run, he kind of dominates proceedings.

As tank engines go, he's a monster.

They are indeed but I kind of guess it depends what the rest of your world is meant to be?

If the system has some big banks or a long run to the other end so long trains of 20+ wagons are more efficient the loco tripping the rakes to the exchange sidings or industry needs to be big. If it’s just shuttling between screens and adjacent sidings then probably it’s overkill :)

I’ve got the small tanks for the small stuff but the B2’s as the originals and the later Austerity’s and Victory’s as ‘modern’ power for the heavyweight work.

I know what you mean Rob. I managed to resist a Victory as I thought it would be a bit big for Tarring Neville. I have a Hornby 0-6-0 Peckett and I built a 14in Hunslet which seem fairly big on the layout and I'll admit I don't tend to use them as much at shows probably because of their size.

Hallway? Could be, but I meant halfway.

Yes, it's Gemini again, but she's hopeless at drawing a proper pannier, but did get the number right though.

I mean, it's not far off a 15xx is it?
