Evening folks,
Apologies for a slight sidetrack but, like myself, I note that a number of folk posting in this thread use the water based safety flux made by O Gauge OnLine.
My bottle was running low so I placed an order via their website. Nothing received 3 and a bit weeks later and the contacts tab on their website is dead. Does anyone know if this flux is still available?
Chris,
Following prolonged discussions on the GoG forum, I now brew my own, citric acid (eBay, Wilko), deionised water (same, Tesco etc) to form a saturated solution, then add about a third by volume of IPA (not the beer..., eBay). Not expensive.
It doesn’t seem to cause any corrosion or pitting of brass / copper / ns, though I guess it would with steel. It washes off in warm water, and smells nice when you solder using it. The only downside is that it does go quite sticky as it dries out.
Best
Simon
