Just for a laugh

I would like to take whoever put that on the market and insert it firmly to ensure that they understood in painful detail just how much of a burn hazard it is.

I was Chief Engineer in a lithium battery plant. I lectured people about the risks of mishandling, and I ran a test lab to ensure our batteries met the customers’ and legal (mainly transportation) requirements.

Cheap shoddy importers that don’t follow the rules cost money and life, and should be prosecuted. The fact that Amazon and other online sellers claim that “we are not the retailer, only a marketplace, so it’s not our fault”, but in the process do real damage to our domestic retailers only compounds the crime in my eyes. They know full well what they’re doing. And our laws let them.

I would urge any & everyone to complain in writing to their MP about this every time there’s another house fire caused by an electric bike/scooter/counterfeit product.

Sorry about the rant, bit of a hobbyhorse.

"Chinese Export"

Trouble is, China Engineering is whatever you want it to be. Cheap and cheerful "Honk Kong Junk" as my dad used to say when I spent my pocket money unwisely, or an iPhone. Telling the difference is the knack.

“Arrows of indecision”

It is, whatever one thinks of the entity it represents, actually a very clever and now iconic bit of graphic design.

"this arrow device was formed of two interlocked arrows across two parallel lines, symbolising a double track railway"

It's lasted nearly 60 years with only minor changes, and is probably only rivalled in recognisability by the classic London Transport roundel.
