We did compare the colour that she was given by Ricard Carr and they looked the same I believe that he got them from JLTRT I may be wrong I asked for my paint in a satin Finnish

Mine came from a car place in Wimbledon, i haven't the details to hand at the moment as I'm in Chicago.
mine were done to the BS standard for rail blue which the man had on his computer. I have to say that on my computer they look different but thats probably my computer and once you have weathered them they will look fine anyway.

They look good John, they will go well with your diesels, I would also recommend JLTRT CCTs to go with them or their GUVs.

I just liked the look of them .Richard what paint do you use on your coaches I'm thinking of getting an air brush for those or would the tins be ok if the paint was T cut to smooth it off

Interesting looking wagon, and I dont think Ive ever seen W-irons on the outside of the solebars. Wonder why it was designed like that?

Jon,

The practice was quite common on the Caledonian Railway in the nineteenth century - see the picture in a thread on the Caledonian Railway Association forum

http://www.crassoc.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=120#p713

According to Mike William's book on Caledonian wagons, the practice discontinued when Drummond took over in 1882 but wagons with outside "W" irons would have continued in service for many years after that.

Just catching up on things here John. Great work on the vans and as you can imagine I love the hopper:bowdown: . Looking forward to seeing these come on  Do you intend to model the later versions with the iron end stanchions or are these too late a period?

Stepping back in time I finished this last night it's part of the coal train it's a wagon I got some time ago and probably has no place on the LNWR main line .hi Mick ill be doing the hoppers soon I've realised that the floor of the kit appears to be wrong as I've found a drawing of them so the next ones I'm making new floors for yes I probably will do a few with iron stanchions as you've seen I like diesels as well and I could probably have an excuse for an NCB train might even do a couple in red oxide

Great stuff John, right up my street. I was looking at one of these on eBay a few months back which was selling as a job lot but they went for silly money, nevermind. Where abouts did you get the drawing for the hoppers John? I only ask as if the floors are wrong I'll follow your lead when I get round to building some and it's always useful to have a drawing to hand,
