Spartan Bridge - ' East Lancashire Shropshire Style'

An overdue update. Progress has been slow (no change there then I hear Mr Ploffy cry) but I've picked up the tempo lately. The last week has seen me crack on with some of the major infrastructure projects on the layout starting with the yard area and the retaining wall.

Now at the station end of the layout the first of the concrete station overbridge support structures has been cut out of 15mm MDF and quickly placed to check for clearances again. I need to make up two more which will be sandwiched together and located on the platform. These are loosely based on the supporting structures at Bolton Trinity Street station.

The next job is to continue with the control panel and to start the wiring of the layout. I already have an unwilling helper and once we can complete the electrics then I'll be at a point that I'll be happy with. getting the electrics finished was always one of my major aims before really tackling the headache that is known as scenery. I suppose I'd better go and buy those pesky Tortoises that I'm going to need,

regards,

Mark

Hi Mark,

beginning to look good - have you thought of using the Cobalt motor instead of the tortoise? neater and has screwless connectors, making it easy to wire up.

cheers

Cheers Mike. I had thought of using Cobalts but I'm committed to the Tortoises as I'm bulk buying them with John and Ian to save a bit of wedge. But I might still have a look at them just in case

don't forget to chamfer your arrises

Chamfer my what?

why are you blowing up baloons in the pic

Those aren't balloons but packing pieces for the baseboard legs. At one point I thought they were for packing the track :D

Have you built all the points yourself ?

There are three Peco ones on the layout. Two in the yard and one controlling access to platform 4 and the headshunt. They have all however had that awful gubbins removed from the blades, you know the spring and such like, much better appearance now.
