Hi Westernfan
You seem to have a knack of stimulating my interest in your projects in whatever scale you choose & your latest venture into N scale is no exception ..........superb!
The backscene is very effective as are the differing levels.....reminds me of Geoff's previous layout.

I was going to build a small O gauge layout on a 6 by 2 board with a feed in fiddle yard , honest
but I knew that I wouldn't be happy with the lack of running space .as it would be only an auto trailer and 14xx appearing from a tunnel /bridge scenic break directly into a station etc the track plan that I built in N would require approx. 24ft in O
though I did have a play about with my o gauge stuff
I suppose that there is a similar theme to Geoff's previous layout mainly due to the bridge and that this is also a western region branch set in a mid wales location I had to think out of the box for the differing levels as this is my first attempt . much planning ahead etc
I constructed a 6ft by 1ft frame out of 2"by 1" then fixed lengths of 3" by 1" to the cross members then screwed some 9mm ply to the risers for the track bed for the scenics I mixed normal filler mixed with dark grey paint and pva , then whilst still wet I sprinkled my favourite scatter powders for the embankment and cutting
