And that's a wrap!

These will find their way up north in a week or so for delivery to Skeetsmere proper. In the meantime, thank you for putting up with welcoming me on this thread during these builds; I shall now return to my own thread to continue my own project (which can be seen sneaking a cameo appearance in the background...)

Well back from an excellent show at Thirsk this weekend. Lovely folks and great venue. Exhibitors very much taken care of. What's not to like.

Back here the progress has been mainly gardening

All ready to stick onto the layout.... Now just got to clean up the residual flock!IMG_20260728_223449836.jpg
Back on the layout the shed area is now painted so it starts to blend in again.

At the other end of the layout the level crossing gates are working however they aren't quite traveling far enough so they are hitting.... Work to done here...

So as everyone will be aware by now that Expo EM summer has had to be cancelled. A blow to many who were looking forward to going including the Skeetsmere team. But these things happen and progress continues.

The only silver lining to the show cancellation cloud is it has allowed me to look at some non essential jobs on the layout. Firstly the ground texture and colour in the station yard has had some toning and variations added.

The first of the three buffer stops are finally being added. This will make operators happier so they don't deposit wagons into the roadway! Thanks to @Dave F. for the bufferstops.

The shed inspection pit has now been filled in. Since the track was laid this has just been a hole in the baseboard.

The layout has left the house this weekend to a meeting of the local 2mm area group for a talk on design and the experimental side of Skeetsmere. We were delayed getting into the hall so by necessity we have proved that we can setup the layout and be operational in 30 mins (exhibition managers please note) thanks to @2mm Andy and @2mmEditor for help setting up and taking down.

But sadly this will be it's last outing until it makes a 3rd and final visit to Workshop Wise in October. However I intend to continue pressing ahead with working on it so it can be ready for when @Leander needs it for a show

Just wondering why it’s third visit will be its final one…?

Nigel
Well 2 reasons....

Workshop Wise focus as an event on making things so the layouts are often in various states of construction so returning visitors can see progress and learn over subsequent years. Skeetsmere was the layout design demo in 2023, track and wiring 2024, landscape forming 2025 and will be a finished piece in 2026.... Which by that point to keep the event fresh is bring in new layouts being built....

Secondly we may have a possibility of a trip to another show in 2027 for the same weekend.... Watch this space!
