As they say in these parts ' Bye Eck Lad ', end of the month   You do work fast. Thanks for the tip about the windows mate, I'll check the drawings I have for the size of window and probably get a few etched up as i'm sure i'll need plenty. The smoke box front and rear look very clean and neat as well. Were they cut out on the miller or by other means as the rear looks a very fine cut??

Mick,
Yes they were cut on the miller, taking care to cut the hole first. The only parts left to cut are the coupling rods from steel.
You asked about the cabinet on the rear spectacle plate, this is just a 2'-0"x 2'-0"x 1'-0"deep box and seems to have been fitted to all the F series GER tanks.

Cab, tanks and boiler/smokebox units added. The chimney has yet to be cleaned up and soldered in place.

And an update on the LSWR EMU. I have started to line out the panels, feeling a bit boss eyed now :))

Great job on the F3 Col, how did you make the smoke box door ring, was it a mill job or by hand. I only ask as I need to make one to sort out the attempt on my G5  :headbang:. I intend to make a nice job of it so as to hide my earlier mistake,

Mick,

I should have cut the ring out on the pantograph miller but forgot to include it in the patterns :headbang: so seeing as the miller and I are 45 miles apart I just turned one on my lathe.

I think I offered to machine one for Jonathan's G5, I can knock a couple out if you want one mate, no problem

Col,

I just stepped back through your thread and I think your photo of the E4's motion bracket has helped enormously with a LSWR G6 which has stalled, or more accurately; not started because I couldn't work out the shape of the motion bracket from the GA I had.

I guess it's the Adams connection...

If you've got some more pics of the fittings and motion I'd love to see them, confirmation of the crank web shape would be a handy start!

Steph,

I have loads of pic's, I'll forward some to you shortly. The crank webs are elliptical,as Laurie Griffins bronze offering for some of the GER loco's. I also have some detailed drg's, whether they would be any use for the G6 I'm not sure

Hi Col,

I was wondering how the F3 is coming along, I intended to catch up at the monthly meeting but you'll see the full story as to the reasons why on JB's Workbench thread  :shit: Did you manage to keep to your deadline with it and is the EMU fully lined ??

Sorry to hear of your mis-hap Mike, hope your back modelling soon mate.
The F3 took a back seat so it's not finished, I had to run my Father in and out of hospital and at the same time our 10yr old Granddaughter decided she was staying with us for the half-term, but I did get the EMU finished  ??? :))
Here's some pic's, that's if my computer let's me upload them, this will be the third attempt :headbang:
