Unfortunately Mrs Confucius thereupon beat her husband around the head with wet kippers and banished him to his shed...

A likeable trait of WT is how one comment leads to a diverging thought... in this case "banished to shed" as per the quote is intended to be a punishment. However, if Mr.Confusious read The Once and Future King then he might have realised that time travel was possible at the time of his birth and hence he could have met IKB... and thereby become the first model railway enthusiast. Punishment? Not likely!

In passing, why do we think that Mrs. C was able to find a kipper (wet, smoked or otherwise) in the larder? I guess someone will respond with a suitable offering from Wiki about the introduction of the Kipper to ancient China and hence begin the atmospheric pollution of that country.

Hi All

A bit of a retro pic

the roof is actually higher here than it will be. I have uploaded a short video of a peak shuffling around to youtube for those who like that sort of thing.

Hi All

Another one rolls off the workbench - the usual treatment for a Hornby 50, replacement bodyside grills, windscreen frames, roof fan, proper sized wheels and lowered on its bogies.

Theres a reason for doing 031 and also for it being almost ex-works and that reason is what happened to the ship its named after. My own little tribute to those lost, of the 1418 crew only 3 survived her sinking during WWII.

The arrival of the Bachy 85 has brought with it the realisation of just how small the Sommerfeldt Stone Faiverly pantograph is. So I have had a look at improving one and below is the result

I like the modifications to scale them up to 4mm. Cross arm pantographs next?

I also like the 304 EMU. I recall these around Stoke and Manchester as 4 car units, rough riders to boot! Are there a couple of 310s on their way?

Heres yet another class 50 shot (let me know if you are getting bored yet!)
Oh, I think most on here will be happy to Hoover up such pictures...

I can't believe I said that, he said, gathering his outer garment and heading for the exit...

The sheer scale of this project is mind blowing. So many memories of this place from the mid-7o's on, the excitement when leaving the tunnel when entering from the Bristol line and seeing which electrics were about. The high-pitched roar of an 81 leaving for Wolverhampton heard from the vestibule nearest the loco...not leaning out of course:oops:.
Keep posting those photos please:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:.

Right then - thats enough class 50's for a bit. However I cant really escape my current fascination with English Electrics so...

Class 31 - a Hornby/Lima hybrid.

When the more exotic classes (class 56 or 58) wern't around pairs of class 31's were often used on the Nuneaton drags. Those familiar with New Street might recognise this angle as the view you get over the wall at the London End. Of course once the overhead is in place this shot wont be possible.

Something a little different. 2 shots taken for one picture. The upper one is an overall shot, with a single spotlight bounced from the roof. The lower one the only light source is an LED in the coach and a hand held LED above the station lamp. By combining the two, lightening up the lamp and darkening the sky plus some work with curves and a tiny but of lens flair (mostly rubbed out though) the end result is below.

That last "image" is sheer brilliance.

BRUTES look good as well, just abandonded and yet positioned correctly for some incoming service.

The last image hits the spot. Reminds me of the bay in Oxford station, an area that always fascinated me as a youngster

Hi All

Another angle of the drag shot from earlier - I think I prefer this one because of the clutter in the foreground.

I'm not really a fan of the skinhead 31's but just the one is OK. I am toying with the idea of turning this one into a /4 and repainting it into plain old blue.
