Hairy Bikers and Other Petrol Heads

Ouch! You always know when something is really painful because you are unable to swear.
After childbirth, one of the most painful things that can be experienced is when your BSA Bantam kicks back and the lever clouts your shin...I know this to be true.

This is an interesting thread.
I'm a biker from back in the day.
BSA C15
Kawasaki KE175
Honda CB500/4
Kawasaki Z1100R
They sum up 14 years of biking.
Then there was a hiatus, now I'm 14.5 years into Hemi ownership.

I had a pal with a C15 with a huge fairing. He seemed to have a habit of setting it on fire.
Always managed to take the fuel tank off, and put the fire out.
I guess it must have been the carb, or air filter, don’t really remember.

I had a Speed Twin which was very prone to going on fire - spitting back through the carb when starting up. The prompt action was to switch petrol off and drop the bike on its side until the flames went out. I carried a stock of spare bits of fuel line. :)

Looking for other images I found this snap I took several years ago in the Vrijdagmarkt in Ghent of the best dressed group of bikers I've seen. We had just come out of Carrefour when we heard a bike or two drift into the square, then some more and then they just kept coming until the square was full. Many/most were in suits and ties, a few scooters too. After ten minutes they left en masse.

I've just noticed that the chap in the centre has a Welsh flag on his fairing. Observations from here (Tywyn) would indicate that this usually adds a good ten mph to the top speed of the vehicle.

With the glow off the exhaust I wonder what other motorists would make of that if they saw it approaching at night.
I guess the 'sorry mate I didn't see you' excuse wouldn't hold up?
