I have no idea if I talked this one up or not (ignoring another post only 11 days ago) -

Will the Packing and Despatch division of ByGiles be staffing up to cope with demand for 7mm variants?

No cigar I’m afraid. It would have been in “Entrevoie”, but I don’t seem to have a copy unfortunately.

I have found these which may help

i think Fraser @Overseer had posted something about this little oddity some time back. He might have some more info.

Aw... never mind! Thanks - I have all those! I import photos into autocad and trace over them to get the dimensions, cross-referencing with each other and any other info I can get - so it won't be so far out. Its surprising - even having a figure in there can provide a surprising amount of confirmation info....

Handrails added. The steps are folded up from a bit of brass sheet and epoxied on

The brake and smaller handbrake wheels are drawn and ready for printing. I haven't done the brake gear yet. The controls will be fabricated from bits of rod and strip, as printing so thin will be susceptable to bowing (and of course delicate)

It runs (off external power at the moment...). When first I assembled it all it was far too rough - and then I remembered I had fitted the bevel gears without cleaning them up. The mod 0.3 bevel gears which I used to get from Germany are very fine and usable straight off, however you have to be careful with the mesh of course. The more commonly available mod 0.4 which I believe originate in China, are the same diameter, which is useful, but coarser. I found these erratic, until I found they were freatly improved by a severe brushing with a steel wire brush to de-burr them, at which point they run nicely. I had completely forgotten about this, and loctited them to the axles raw. However, I managed to clean them up in situ, and with a spot of grease on all three pairs, it all runs smoothly, forming a compact low-profile unit with strips of lead slotted in where I can.
Excuse the bodgery.

Yes, I saw the stuck axle on the wagon - it added to the load, which was fine by me!
It strikes me that the real thing must have been very unpopular with drivers. It would have been fine hauling, but the driver would be completely blind propelling, and entirely reliant on a shunter for even the simplest moves.......
