Really nice ''wet rust'' finish.

Admittedly that photo was taken before it was fully dry which is why it looks quite wet, although the effects don't dry completely matt.
I start with a base coat of black primer, and then mist on a 'rubber black', which is a very dark greyish brown colour, followed by a mist of a dark black brown mix, both from the airbrush. If you don't have an airbrush then a few mists from rattle cans would also do the job.
Then using the products in the below photos, beginning on the left I apply a very thin wash of 'Light Rust Deposits' which just gathers around details. Then again moving left to right, I splatter on the other 3 colours - just dipping the brush in and then using a cocktail stick to rub the brush against so the bristles flick towards the surface.
How thick each paint is, how much is on the brush, and even whether you shake the bottle before beginning or not dramatically affects the final result so it's quite 'tuneable' to your liking. Likewise, adding a gloss or matt varnish over the top, or leaving it raw, also changes the final effect.
