Hi,

I'm agreeing with the other options mentioned apart from the Freightliner flats. There are kits out there and Freightliner trains are block workings making mix and match harder. But if an IFA (the 2 car ones) were picked then you could mix and match with the Cargowaggons that have been announced on the flows across the country from the continent.

Here's my wagon wish list:
TTA
MTA (uses the TTA chassis)
Seacow
HGA gunnel (then there is a chassis for PGAs,
IPA 2 vehicle STVA car carrying wagon.

Cheers

Easybuild do a kit for the 105 but you'd need to trim off the route indicator for some variants, specifically the ones I'd want for East Anglia and the Felixstowe branch, I do keep looking at one ;) but have not heard much about their kits, positive or negative. Oddly I'd also like a 153 single car sprinter (Peter Clark was mutted to be considering one) too, the new Abellio colours look nice, very Danish DSB looking, all white and red doors LOL and 170 turbostars (available from Peter Clark) are nice......that's the problem trying to sustain so many interest bubbles and anoraks!

Cynric built an Easy Build 105 on here Mick:)

'Fruit D' or 'Syphon G' would be a good choices for freight stock IMO, as they could be found on all regions for a very long time period:thumbs:.

Oh and if you're talking about DMU, yes Easybuild do some which can be made into quite good models, and some with plain wrong profiles (121, 116 etc) but fill the gaps I say.

A 101 would be very welcome. With nationwide coverage and long lives and numerous liveries they should appeal to most. The odd shaped Brass one still seems to go well on ebay sales so it suggests demand is there.

But focus on the wagons first please ;)

And what's wrong with the skytrex versions :)...................

Except the front end has the same slope as an HST power car :)

Westdale do a pretty comprehensive list of DMU's & they are the right profile...... I'm not convinced Heljan would do a better job of them looking at their Mk1's ;)

Hehe:)) and don't forget the N scale door windows. It certainly was an odd one.

Sure HJ's MK1s weren't good at all, but looking at their forthcoming GUV it's not all bad.

Last week when dropping off finished paint jobs at a well known seaside emporium I had a good look at the GUV, it's pretty good but I am sure they will spoil it with their amateurish matt paint finish and horrendous lining.
Wouldn't be difficult to refinish them though!

Ya, thankfully repainting is in many ways is so much easier than re-shaping a model. I discovered a few details on the 47 after stripping is down that had been buried under the cream cheese thickness paint. So it confirmed they're into lots of important detail. Just a case of finding it sometimes hehe

I can't quite see the wisdom of paying £250 for the HJ GUV & stripping it down & repainting when the other option would be two GUV kits of the same for around the same price:confused:

Phil,
The answer to that question is, I guess, more around how much free time you have and how you value it. I don't think it's a straightforward issue of price of Brand X vs. price of Brand Y; there's a cost and value judgement to make in there somewhere.

Yup, I've got 2 JLTRT GUVs to build.........one day!

You wouldn't believe how many Heljan diesels I have reprinted at £200 a go, like Steph says, some people don't have the time or the ability to make kits and may feel a repaint of a ready to run model is their best option

I think the point I was making was you will not get the time saving & convenience of RTR if you did repaint & add extra details & improvements. Some of the GUV kits would be less than half the price & less work.

Phill :)

Hi Tom,

I have 4 Westdale GUV's and i think that they are very good value for money:thumbs:. The last one i bought was £85 but it required bogies. I have used Wayoh and Easybuild. My preference is Easybuild which are now priced at £35.

I know that this is slightly more than 125 especially if the price of the Guv has gone up, but even if its gone up to £100 then with bogies its still a very good price and i shall be getting some more in the future.

Sorry for the poor quality of pic but i can't find where i put the pics of the others.:(

A ha, I didn't know they produced one, it'd be great if they had a bit more internet presence. But anyway, coaches and units aside it's those wagons that HJ need to get on to :) I don't think I've got the time to produce and build all the stuff I want. I think I might get a few grumbles from the exhibition audience if I don't have enough trains rolling round.

Tom try doing 20 Mk2's in one hit it's enough to make you loose your marbles, it's never ending. Your bits and bobs are making it easier though.
