The freightliner flat would be a welcome addition to the railway especially if it was a long train

Thank's Mike, I know someone did a spine type and thought it was Buzz. I have a 5 set of the RJH etched ones and they are ok.

A TTA from Heljan would be nice but there are so many different types out there. And you do need as many liveries as possible. Would you accept a slight compromise on say a Total TTA if the underframe or end ladders were wrong for that livery?

What about the classic 1950's-70's bauxite vans, opens etc?

Should you go for 4 wheelers, small wagons fit on small layouts better or the bogie ones which are ok on garden layouts?

Any TTA really Brian as far as I would be concerned. I also know that Mr Ploffy i slooking at Covhops so they may be another winner for HJ.

I'd say gor for a mix of 4 wheelers and bogie stock. Anything goes :)

Brian,

Unless I am mistaken, some of the 7mm WTers like to build models as well as run them... hence a preference may be for those (more modern) prototypes which are not yet (read "not likely to be") available from the current manufacturers. As an example, the recent announcement of Cargowaggons has prompted Son to pre-order seven as the availability of such models enables him to concentrate on building kits. Extending the "modern" slant with stock from the late 1980s through to 2000 is going to appeal to those entering the hobby as well as to those who have an existing interest in the current scene.

Container wagons, car transporters, grain and bulk handling are likely to get wallets open.

I like building and hacking and bashing but I also think that if someone has done it for me and it's there already why not. You only have to look at some of the brilliant things others are doing and have done then say well you can get them as a kit it's easier but where's the fun in that. The big big Mk2's for instance I could go out and buy 10 from JLTRT ( if I had the fund's) but I am enjoying making mine how I want them.

I have 2 cargo wagons from the modern outline range they are wrong and this will be addressed in time but I want a few more even if heljan bring them out. I am fettling them as I want them.

I may not have the skills to be able to kit bash a loco and produce anywhere near the results I have seen and am envious of those with the skill and patience to be able to produce such gems.

RTR does have a place in the hobby and I would like to think it's the first step onto greater things.

I went to the DEMU show in Burton yesterday, there were some excellent layout, all the 4mm ones were running ready to run stock, some had clearly been modified but a lot hadn't especially the long rakes of wagons. But the variety that was available is amazing something we can only dream about in 7mm. Equally building all those wagons from kits would take forever that's why I want more ready to run ones, as much as I like and enjoy kit building I'm never going to have the time to build anywhere near the number of wagons I would like, thats why I will be buying Heljans wagons by the boat load and why I can't wait for them to announce more.

Something else we could also do with a decent RTR dmu

Wagons...schwagons I say. At the risk of invoking the incandescent fury of some, personally I don't get worked up about utter & total 100% accuracy in wagons.... or Frieght Cars as I know them better.... :) ;)

Lima & Triang plus a bit of imagination work for me on long freights in the garden;)

I have to say Brian that after building 10 JLTRT TTAs I hope Heljan bring one out, I would like more but I have had enough of building them and I still have to put transfers and weather 4 of them. I still don't understand why they went for a B tank when TTAs came out in the 60s and are compatable with green diesels.

Back again, been away for a week and TRYING to use the wife's laptop.

I had the news via Facebook, thanks Steve.

BRILLIANT news........I've been trying to get this to go ahead now for nearly TEN years! My order will be in very soon, BFYP, if it needs any mods to make it look like it did when I saw it, they will get done.

What can I find to complain about now............hmmmmmmmmm?

Because they were 'steered' that way?

And why on earth have they done OAA & VAA when they could have done OBA/OCA/VDA - then OTA [both VDA & OCA based + loads of dept. variants/re-bodies]. Or they could have sold the chassis seperately for aftermarket re-bodies. Wasted opportunity.
