Ok, so progress has been ongoing in many areas.

Leg arrangements finalised after stability issues.

Track painting and weathering started.

Remaining two 08's nearly finished.

But what I'm really excited about is buying an eBay £30 Dublo 8F with Romford wheels, converting it to three rail and fitting my favourite Romford 60:1 gears. It fits in the run round and and fiddle yard, so very happy!

Below is the proof of concept, a Rocket shaped 2-2-0.

I've been thinking that as the layout has no curtain/skirt, I need something to hold small valuables, up to loco size.

I googled around and found the LockaBox, made here in the UK.

LOCKABOX™ | Compact & hygienic lockable storage box

I've bolted it to the underside of the fiddle yard tray, finally getting round to bolting the tray itself in. The box has a three digit code, should put off all but the most determined...

If by fridge, you mean beer fridge, then that would make me drunk in charge of a model railway. Mind you, reading some of the old Bradford Barton railwayman memoirs, it seems a cheeky pint wasn't particularly frowned upon.

So more progress today, the deadline of the next exhibition at Kempston on 9th November is rapidly approaching.

Finally started ballasting today, felt like a big moment as the blue foam is starting to disappear. I was paranoid that I'd get ballast in the points and stop them working, but all seems ok so far. I also painted my bufferstops, track dirt, with a rust wash, I was quite taken with the effect. I bought a pack of the new PECO bullhead buffers just to mix it up a bit.

Hopefully it will be set solid tomorrow and the point will still be working, then scrape off the paint from the rail tops.

Couldn't resist pairing my new mechanical horse with a presflo, ok I know it's 'small beer'. The horse needs a repaint, but some research using 'Railway owned commercial vehicles' by S W Steven-Stratten see's this type of horse still going in 1961. The tank is close enough to the cement type for me, with the pipe holders down the sides.

Tony,

This is all good stuff and at least on your thread I can see the images. I seem to be having trouble elsewhere and not sure why...

Thanks Mick, It's all coming along now. I have three exhibition bookings coming up over the next year so very happy.

Not sure about your image problems, I guess you might have to speak to an admin as the problems I have are those members that link from other sites and the original image has been deleted.

Cheers

The cattle dock is coming on, has been electronically scratchbuilt from Scalescenes parts using Affinity Designer. The ratio cattle dock posts will be fitted with evergreen styrene rod. I've modelled it on the Welshpool cattle dock that has just been restored, figuring that the GC and GW might have wanted to co-invest in the facility.

I've been refining the slides on the monitor, this seems to be at the very limit of too much information. Hopefully is clear enough for the viewer.

Tony,
All excellent work, I can see all the pictures on my phone but not my laptop so it's obviously my end, but I haven't a clue how to rectify it.

Thanks Mick. On another thread here some readers claimed it was their windows browser not refreshing itself automagically when visiting the page. You mobile does it properly.

Ctrl+F5 I think refreshes the page.
