Todays update....
Smokebox saddle completed and modified by filing 1mm off the base. Boiler assembly was not horizontal otherwise. Frame extensions and front piston covers also fitted.

I wasn't too enamoured with the capuchon and rim of the cast whitemetal chimney, so they had to be replaced.

Some more detail work.
A length of brass rod drilled through to 0.9mm with a length of 0.9mm brass tube inserted, which has a length of 0.7mm brass tube in that, and finally a length of 0.5mm brass wire. The larger diameter rod had a hole drilled through of 0.9mm which the 0.9mm etc tube(s) went through to make a sturdy join when soldered up.

Continued work from today.
Made a two outlet oil pot.
Boiler assembly had another test fit after the addition of the firebox casting and pipework.
A close-up of the firebox fittings. The hole in the spectacle plate for the small pipe had to be drilled. There are more which were required for other pipe runs, which will become clear further in to the build.

The MOK page has a useful drawing to show how it works - a length of wire is used on the bottom cup to hold the ball in the socket.

Replacement buffer bodies, as per the D1, have been machined and fitted.
Also, the rear cab floor support has been replaced.
Because of this, the cab floor is too long and needs to be cut/filed down to suit. I also changed the mounting for the fall plate by replicating the brackets similar to the prototype.

First cab handrail in place. A short length of 0.9mm brass tube at the top, inside an offcut of brass to represent the fixing bracket, another length of 0.9mm brass tube inserted in and projecting below a short piece of brass rod drilled out to represent the fixings in the middle.

Not being entirely happy with one of the whitemetal steam reverser castings, it was time to put the lathe to work...
The cab doors have been fitted using the same technique as on the D1.

My attention has turned to the tender as I await some parts for the loco body.
Fixed rear axle, middle axle will be sprung and leading axle runs in a brass tube which rests on a centre pivot. Also note the 0.7mm brass rivets.

New fittings now soldered in place on the replacement steam reverser part.

The tender frames are now completed.
However, modification was required to get the guard irons into correct alignment with the wheels. They do not exhibit any bends on the prototype, thanks to a rear 3/4 view, so they've been spaced out with the aid of some square brass tube.

The tender has progressed of late, slowly due to other projects.
Hateful tender flares which are separate parts..
Frames and replacement turned buffers fitted.
I've also replaced the cast whitemetal tank filler body with a turned brass item.
Etched parts for the lid, and the rear steps in place, which require a little cleaning up from using the RSU.
Axleboxes were fitted this evening.

Steam reverser cylinders finally fitted. I had to turn and drill the ball for the bottom valve. Overall it is an improvement over the original whitemetal casting.
Other tender work.
Modified buffer beam and steam heating pipe. Valve handle moved to the opposite side.
Painting of the tender and frames has commenced too.
