I like most of it but give the chain back to the Titanic, just use some wire twisted around to give the impression.

PS. how do you apply the brakes you have not got a brake handle.

Regarding the Titanic chain, the links are a fraction over 1mm a piece, and I couldn’t find any smaller. But I can live with this as I think the twisted wire method looks shite. I’ve had to use twisted wire on the steam pipes and it’s not pretty.

Sometimes we have to make exceptions, a bit like saying OzzyO is 6’2” with size 12 feet, we have to live with the fact that some things don’t scale down or up very well :D.

Martyn, not a S7 modeller ;).

I know what you mean, the nautical reference is useful as it provides a potential source for fine chain. Cornwall Model Boats Ltd

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for the info, I will go and have a swot up and see if they have any finer chain.

Personally I’m not overly fussed as once the backhead is painted most of the detail will be lost in the gloom, and possibly a ModelU figure will be strategically placed in the cab.

Cheers,

Martyn.

Hi Guys,

Well I thought it’s about time I posted up what’s been happening on the layout, which is not a lot really having spent a lot of time loco building instead.

The one thing I have been toying with is making some trees for the layout, trees do not scale down very well so it’s been a bit of trial and a lot of error. Also they are very time consuming, but I’ve made a start and so far I’m quite happy with the results.

I have to agree with Graham, did you take any pictures of the building of the trees and what materials did you use? Also how big are they?

Good morning Michael, I didn’t take any pictures, but I’m quite happy to post a few photos up of the method when I next get an hour or two to myself.

Nice! Come and do some for me!

Tony

Hi Tony,

They are very time consuming, and for the amount you will need I will have to move in ( permanently)….…:D

All the best,

Martyn.

Hi Martyn
Just read through Church Norton great work I rather like your base board construction it is unique, a well thought out design. Which car did you end up driving home? The older sporty red one or its newer rival.
