Steve two of my wagons have only a bit of rust.

Whist reading the MRJ 267 for Martyn Welch's article on dirtying up Dapol minerals I also re-read Geff's article on a scenic fiddleyard. That reminded me that someone Jordan I think sveral years ago suggested I added a bit of senery the other side of the main backscene to help with photos that looked that way under the Tramway. So as i had some scrap material lying around the model railway room i thothought I'd give it a go to see what it might look like attached to the back of the fiddle baseboard. Luckily apart from the last 2 inches it would not interfere with the operation of the sector plate. Here are a couple of photos of the end result. It seems to work and as I have a fair amount of the original backscene material plus some of the new Peco backscenes I may have more of a play around.

That top photo is IMO superbly realistic, you really do have to look to see it's a model. I'm now suffering from trauma as you've forced me to look closely at a Pannier.

You know you want one Chris!

Morning Alan,

My sources indicate he already has an example.......possibly more than one.....in fact, information suggests that he has more than one.

Dear SheepBloke, your sources need re-sourcing. One of the pannier beasties is currently residing on the south coast. Been sent away to play with similar friends and to consider its recent obstructive behaviour...

And anyway I only have a 8750 and a 1366, so, look ewe.

It is currently behaving itself, dead engine, at the end of the "to do" siding, alongside a L&Y pug whose misbehaviour cost its owner, and me, a decoder each, so very much naughtier than the pannier. The pug has a new motor (and gearbox if required) following the pilgrimage to Uxbridge a couple of weeks back. If you look at the nonsense in my workbench thread, it has a cameo role in a video of a 45xx which spent the weekend winding me up. And that's DCC, not clockwork!

Once the 45 is sorted (and I was going to say, "later tonight" but that's tempting fate so I won't) we'll have a look at CSBs and little panniers. And maybe a saddle-tank cousin.

Like those mineral wagons Alan. The scenic fiddleyard looks good too, it does help to disguise any view through the bridge.

Inspired by Rob I decided the Room need a bit of a clear out and tidy up which was done this morning with much going into our recycle bin and also the garage.

So the afternoon was spent on thinking about the scenic fiddleyard. During the clear out and tidy up I found the ramains of the material that I used for the backscene of the layout proper, so as the photogarphic one seemed to work I decided that it (The fiddleyard) would have a backscene similar to the main layout. Luckily i discoverd in the garage enough hardboard to support the material so this was cut to size and enough thin ply to make two sub-bases for the removable secenery to allow the fiddleyard to operate when playing whoops operating the layout.

Progress had gone well with the erection of the end board, until I realised I made a c**k up.

The oservant of you will have noticed that the two spacers in the corner put there to allow the sector palte to swing are proud of the baseboard

I think I've worked out away of dealing with it. I'll report to morrow.
