I’m particularly drawn to the slates: may I ask which colours/make/shades you use, please? A recipe for my little note book if you’d be willing to share

Hi Tim/Jonte
This is it ‘in the round’ I start with a base colour, for the brick fo this ‘London’ brick type colouring the base colours I think Japanese Army uniform yellow. From there I randomly pick out individual bricks with a variety of unmixed colours from chocolate through to RAF earth colour. I do the same with the slates this time Japanese Navy Gray, as the base colour. The variation is similar random colours of darker shades. These are applied as both full strength, and diluted washes. The model does end up looking a very stark patchwork quilt effect. Using light grey weathering powders I work over the entire structure, and this blends the tones together. If needed I add a little brown to the powder for a bit of warmth. I work under 4000k light on the bench which is a good ‘value’ for a not too bright day, and that’s roughly the layout lighting value too. That’s the basic recipe and I adjust with extra washes or block paint and powders to suit.

One of Shelfie’s 08’s on Chris Nevard's sublime Brew Street at Warminster this past weekend.
A superb show, well worth the pita of getting there! Nothing to do with the show as such, but an awkward journey from here!

Albion Yard is no more. Today I’ve scrapped it and recycled the useful bits. A roaring fire this evening awaits!
It taught me a lot, and was about fifteen years old, and first appearance was on Yahoo groups and fotopic! There, bet that makes you feel old!

Hi Rob, it’s common or garden Bachmann. It’s only had pipes and Dinghams added, and some paint thrown on it. Apart from that, out of the box.
