I kind of like the brick buildings as they are, but I'll have another look at things when the layout has a lot more scenery.

It's not stopped pouring down for two days, so very little's been done to the layout. Planted a few bushes to help make the backscene part of the layout. An extra support on the guard rail can be spotted through the railings.....

Thanks Nick. A loco comes and goes constantly while re-checking the electrics during scenery building.

Unbelievably, two days were spent installing some GWR Spear fencing. Some weathering was done as the job progressed......



The Spear 'entrance' gates were also replaced by wooden gates as per Llanfyllin.....

That really looks the part, Larry. The positioning is just right.

I built a ramp behind the platform adjacent to the signalbox for the signalman to replenish his coal scuttle from the bunker. Also used by staff between the goods depot and the station.....

The mainline still remains a stub for the time being. The headshunt behind the water tank has been brought further away from the backscene so I can add some high ground...



This area is coming along slowly, but things should speed up once some more drystone walling arrives...

Just adding those few wagons has bought the whole thing to life . Top job Larry .

Apologies if you have covered this before (I didn't look), but how do you create your road and platform surfaces - I must say they look rather good.

Hi Steve. The station approach is supposedly tarmacadam and so I spray the cork with Halfords grey primer. Then I take the compressor and spraygun into the shed and waft dark grey and rust colours onto it to create something resembling real roads.

In goods yard and other areas, I apply neat PVA to the cork surface and sprinkle on Woodland Scenics fine grey ballast intended for N gauge. When dry, I file it down with a large file and vac off the excess. Grey and rust are wafted on with a spraygun afterwards.

In general, I used cellulose for its fast drying qualities. I mixed many of the colours and still do. It was a maroon-ish shade on GWR coaches.
