4mm Llanfair ....

Todays job was laying the paths using fine ballast. I had some surplus and so mixed light grey, grey and dark brown ballast in a jar. The mix was glued down with neat PVA and the surplus vacuumed off immediately. Grass was sprinkled onto wet patches. The station platform had been set aside...

The PVA will take ages to dry out on a day like today (65 degrees) ...

I am biassed by months of research of Shipston on Stour. The goods shed there was the biggest structure and looked right only because it was in the middle of the other structures. I still have the buildings (in 4mm scale) and there is a somewhat distant pull to put them all together again. But Moor Street defies competition!

The Shipston' buildings are fine models and it is a shame they are not used. On my layout, I can see trains the length of the baseboard from a sitting position, whereas the good shed used to block my view as well as cast a shadow.

EDIT: Forgot to say that with everything at the back of the layout, nothing gets damaged when using a track rubber.

Yes, Larry. I have been sorting out the S-on-S buildings today and will bring them back to England. A nice small winter project, perhaps, for me to tackle in England. We now have the space, at least I think we do!

A balmy place amid sun-scorched grass. No passengers to worry about.....Just the Dean Goods rolling in to knock a few wagons about for 15 minutes, a cup of tea, then off back down the branch. Peace.... :)

Grassing in progress ~ very slowly ~ a bit at a time... Ex. LMS 50' van awaiting loading. The end loading bay is rarely used...

A parcels van is left here every day for the local firm of 'Weramak' to load up with its daily produce of raincoats etc. Nearest track awaiting bufferstops...
