Personally, I would go for a WD 2-8-0. Where I grew up in Lancs, clanking Austerity 2-8-0s were as familiar as the sound of pre-war Leyland buses and clogs. I had considered one for Llanfair under Rule 1 until Dapol announced a new 28xx... :rolleyes:

Those bushes beside the little blue industrial look very realistic.

As the 1960s wore on, the influence of the London Midland Region grew in this part of Herefordshire, as the occasional diesel substituted for the normal steam diagram. Expensive, as two crews were necessary, one to drive the thing and the usual steam crew to pilot the diesel crew.

Good morning CK,
I've just spent an enjoyable hour or so looking back through the thread, largely prompted by the reference in post #948 to Herefordshire, as we now live there, albeit in the South East of the county.
I've just realised that your "likeometer" will probably have gone into overload...thanks for the inspiration.
