Needs to do less chatting and more finishing the doors off. It's nearly winter and the locals won't thank him if there's an icy wind blowing into the pub.
He's not the Chippie, though, who is in the green jacket. Mr Pipe Pointer is the Expert every Tradesman who has to work in public view has met, who comes along and tells you how you should be doing your job....  ;)

Funnily enough I've met a few experts when doing demos at shows. Particularly like the ones that tell me that something I've been doing successfully for 40 years won't or doesn't work.

At a scenics demo a few years back I had a chap telling me that you couldn't glue expanded polystyrene together with PVA as it would never go off. Still refused to believe it even after handing him an offcut which was two blocks glued solidly together with PVA...

I wondered why the phone kiosk is white, then, after googling a bit I found out about Hull's independent phone system, the kiosk colour and the absence of a crown on the kiosk.
Keep up the good work.

Close up for you. They are by far a better way of telling where this layout is set than a bus on a bridge! (plus we dont have a bridge). Hull Corporation Telephones Kiosks have always been variations on green and cream (more recently all over cream). This colour scheme is correct for the 1960s and into the early 70s. They were a casting made specifically for the company, and even the font of the word Telephones differs sleightly. The models (there are 2 on the layout) were created by modifying the Peco kit of the GPO version.

No its period for the layout. Its the poster for the October 1967 Yorkshire Challenge Cup Final. See your thinking though, they really stuck with that design.
I had completely forgotten about the old Yorkshire Cup competition.

1967 Yorkshire Challenge Cup Final - I went to that match, when Rovers ;);) beat Hull 8-7 at Headingly.
After the game we all went on to the pitch, and I ran in to a friend from scouts, who (unusually for an East Hull kid supported Hull!)!

Cheers,

Kevin
