Peter, it does rather make the world your oyster - just so long as you can get accurate drawings of course.
There are plenty of kits that I would like to build, but there is something quite satisfying about building your own kit, and also once the kit design is completed you can build a fleet of the same class for a fraction of the cost.
It does open the eye to all the kit designers that were drawing everything in pen before CAD, and almost allows a little forgiveness when things don't go together correctly. I did say 'almost'..
