The Great Way Round , a 00 gauge homage.

I thought I'd share the early beginnings of something I've never done before and one that I was maybe always destined to do , and that's build a late 20s early 30s great western branch layout .

It's 00 gauge and roughly 8x8 ISH , unashamedly code 100 peco streamline and DC .
One side depicts a small branch through station and the other side will be a small loco shed and goods yard in a more urban setting .

It's very much a model railway system less a fine scale model of a certain place .

It's still a work in progress so everything isn't blended and weathered yet .

This Is like! A model railway system? That is everything I one day aspire to.

Please do share more photos and a maybe a trackplan when you are able to.
Hi David , so here's a very rough and ready track plan , it's probably a bit too busy and track heavy but it's designed for operation. The layout runs with a twin morely controller ,and I've wired it so that you can operate the layout with either 1 controller or have a train running the loop and a locomotive shunting in the goodsyard / factory area. The 3 road bridges are designed to break up the layout and as per frank dryersof Borchester market said you shouldbt see the whole journey just a little glimpse.

I think that there is a great merit in a round layout.

Personally I'd go for Code 75 or bullhead, other than that brill. Why is not to like?

I find the typical fiddle yard tail chaser rather dull , so something with operation was a must .

I've used code 100 as its something i had in stock and didn't fancy purchasing the still incorrect code 75 for the 25tho difference ,

the bullhead would have been excellent but id have needed to sell a kidney to fund it .

my next layout may indeed use fine scale trackwork but that is for the future .

many thanks

James
