Only a 3 1/2 hour drive both ways for me, so no problem, I have driven to Dunoon in Scotland non stop previously apart from the ferry.

At this point in time I'm open to offers for people demonstrating tip and techniques. We have the test track and Paul is bringing the stores stand. If I get my bum into gear I might have the boards and track down on my latest micro and I'm thinking of bringing the stand.
But other than that nothing is set in concrete.

I should have said the station is a 10 mins walk from the hall.

My only thought is a little co-ordination might be useful to provide a range of topics and avoid any overlap. There are a couple of different things I could bring to demo but wouldn't want to tread on anyone else's feet. Rather than have 6 people turn up all building kits or demonstrating soldering it might be good to see if we can get a range of techniques covered.

Apart from yourself I have one tentative offer to demonstrate scratch building wagons. I say tentative as he hasn't been given management approval to come and play out if you know what I mean. So what would you like to demo?
If and when I get more volunteers I will make sure that we don't overlap demos.

Marc, I very much hope to be at the meeting. My problem is that the group of friends I go cycling with are all getting older ( like myself )
so planning too far ahead is proving problematic. In the past before Covid we tended to go cycling in late September/ October. Because of all the trouble with the travel industry my friends are a bit reluctant to book anything until the end of August.
Because we haven't been able to go for the past 3 years I wouldn't like to miss out a possible likely last cycling holiday. Now at 71 I am struggling to climb the hills as I use too so this may be my last chance. I will do my best to steer my buddies away from October 22 so I can attend.

I don't mind - it's more what would people like to see. If there is a table or two free I will bring up a short display stand I've used in the past when we had the Scale7 stand at shows like Wigan. I can bring up of a selection of the models I've posted on WT to display. Then in terms of demos I don't mind taking requests.

• Scratchbuilding locos - marking out, piercing saw work simple platework, forming etc.
• Soft soldering techniques - preparing making joints etc. How to do it without resorting to an RSU!
• Silver soldering techniques - making lampirons and other small details
• Lathe work - I have a small portable lathe for turning small details

or anything else I've posted on WT.

I certainly plan to attend and will be quite happy to help man a demonstration table if you wish.
By the very informal nature of how S7 meetings run, it might be best not being too rigid in what is demonstrated. A bit of overlap is not a bad thing, as long as the 3 main areas, track, rolling stock, locos, are covered. There are so many different ways to kill a cat!. In my experience it is often more helpful for people to be able to ask questions specific to their needs. A display of finished and part built models will prompt interest and discussion especially if there are different solutions to the same problem on show.

It was actually a member of Keighley MRC who kicked off the proposal of a Lancs/Yorks group in the first place and hence the Keighley group was initially mooted for the meeting place.

I was going to try and go down to the Preston group this weekend just gone as they had an open day, but I'm totally full of a cold at the moment and didn't think it wise to go and share it around.

I think it's Peter Tennant who would have tried to arrange something. If I remember he is the area rep.

I can confirm I will be attending the meeting in Carlisle on the 22nd of October. I will bring my wagon demo stand as well as some stock for the test track. I have been asked to do a demo at the Wigan show in the first week of October. I have asked if I am doing this solo but as yet I haven't had a reply.

Less excited more nervous. I ordered 2 boxes of biscuits form McVities in Carlisle. I will pick up there rest of the supplies closer to the 22nd. In the spirit of inclusion apart form myself is there any more people with dietary requirements? Gluten Free, Lactose free etc

As some one who is a celiac I can get a little upset when nothing is available so it's only fair to include everyone who is forced into a diet change.

Just to remind people. One Week to go to the First S7 North Meeting in Dalston near Carlisle. There will be the S7 test track so bring some stock to run. And there are a number of demonstrators covering everything from scratch building stock to 3D printing, including myself with a couple of different typed of auto coupling, not just my own. There will be some trade support form CSP Models. The cost is £5 this covers you for unlimited (While they last) tea/coffee, biscuits and cake. It is open to members and Will be equally welcome non-members. Doors open at 10:30AM at the Victory Hall Dalston, Carlisle CA5 7QS

This is an experiment ,so please come an support. If it goes well we might try something a bit bigger next year.

A quick note for the demonstrators we will be in the hall from about 0900 setting up so you can get there after that if you want. Not sure about the availability of extension leads so please bring one if you have one. I will try to get my hands one a few spares.
