Yes they are really good, I've managed to get hold of quite a few now. The tooling now belongs to Atlas and I think they are doing another run of them.
There are also some of the bigger Berwick boxcars coming out soon.

Here are the other 2 boxcars I did some work on.

The CP one was bought at the Chicago meet earlier this year so when I tried to remove some of the weathering with a wet with water cotton bud, it also started to attack the paint work, although now looking at it, it kind of looks realistic.

That wasn't a problem with the BN cars as they are factory ready to run, water was pretty effective at removing the weathering, I think you need to do it sooner than you would if you were using enamels.

Then I added some rust to the CP car

You might want to plan on some heavy weathering for the RBOX car. The blue and red arrow logo should be pointing sideways rather than up and down.:confused: That may have been mentioned a while back, I can't remember for certain, if so feel free to ignore. Of course you can feel free to ignore no matter what!

Friday afternoon at the paint shop job then :))

I think that might be the RBOX car that sat in my collection for years and I never noticed either

I'm in Singapore this week, so weathering that railbox car isn't going to happen until I get back, but I did bring a Modern Era boxcar kit with me to build.

This one is a Southern Pacific 50ft cushioned boxcar.

The body is a one piece resin casting which makes construction relatively simple, the most important thing is to take time to clean everything up well, so that's the first job. I'm in Tokyo next week so hopefully by the time I get home it will be pretty much ready for painting.

I didn't know Modern Era did some one-piece body kits. My kit body (all seperate pieces) is rather out of square if measured carefully, although that might also be a lack of adequate preparation, plus some very slight warping of the pieces. It's still a nice model of a fairly unique boxcar, though.

Hi Jordan

Yes all their kits now have 1 piece bodies, which makes everything so much easier.

Their next one is a 60ft PC&F car, the prototype looked really good at the March meet.

One of the other things I'm working on is to produce some 3D printed track parts using an FDM printer.

There seems to be a variety of different rail braces used in the states (slide chairs in English), here's some photos of ones I found

these are in Elkhart at the interchange between NS and the Elkhart and Western

This is at the same place but the first switch into the siding

These are in the station in Toledo

Does anyone have a drawing for these and which railway company used which ?

Are they all from the same period or is one more modern than the others ?

1:48 is big but there is a lot available for the much more user friendly 1:

My layout had some S Scale visitors recently....

Doing a few rough measurements, I reckon my spur capacities would only be one, maybe two cars longer if I'd gone for S instead of staying with the O stock I already had.
Jordan, of course if you really want to have a go at S I know where a gp38-2, modern box cars and track can be found
