Nice  8)

I've got an EasyBuild 108 in the pile to do, and I was thinking the other day about how I'd power it.  I've got my own ideas, but suffice to say it probably won't be that easy a build by the time I've finished  ;D

I did think of something along these lines http://www.clag.org.uk/demuspine.html but, a) its damn complicated and b) It is going to get a fair bit of running, so I am going with basic engineering that I know will work. I had also  forgotten how much hastle it is to build rigid bogies  :))

A quick end of day shot

Heh, funnily enough that's pretty much what I have in mind!  I'll have to see what small gearboxes I can lay my hands on  ;D

I think the lines are from the extrusion process. Normally I attach hinges etc before assembly but in this case I will be assembling, sanding and then adding the  parts once I am satisfied all is well.

Moving on tonight to I made up a brass keeper plate to retain the bolster on one side and it will also double up as a handy place to solder the pickup wire. im also pleased to report that the motor bogie was square, so no alterations required there  8) the delrin sprockets afe a force fit onto the axle so I will leave them until the very end.

ABC with a Maxon motor. I should add that only one will go in the 105  :))
Just catching up on this thread... and I must admit that, just for a minute, I did wonder if you were putting all four into the Bug....  ::)  :))

Another little brain teaser involves the headcodes  :headbang:
As supplied thay are incorrect for the unit we have chosen the headcode boxes are closer to a square rather than a rectangle

I had 100 mile bike ride this morning and the afternoon was spent at the Model engineers, so I wasnt in the mood for doing anything too demanding and I decided to start the tedious job of assembling the seats. This little lot took an hour after cleaning up, with the same number yet to be done  :headbang:

Having decided how to tackle the reporting codes the headcodes didnt look so clever as the glazing really needs to be flush with the cab front, so I have taken half an hour to put together a little etch sorting both problems. The idea is to use an etched template to make a suitable hole for the headcode box and laser the glazing so it fits flush with the cab front.
These little things make the character of the unit and will make much more difference that trying to add brake gear (although it would be nice  :)) )

That seems pretty successful  :)
the first shot shows the general sequence of events. The etched cutting template is glued in position

It doesnt stand idle  :)) I have tapped into a little niche locally doing parts for dolls houses and it should have paid for itself in by xmas.

Things didnt go quite as planned  :)) I had hoped to use a quick solution for the destination blinds and use an etch to represent the rubber around the glazing ( in knew this was a long shot as the etch is incredibly fragile but I stuck it on the etch anyway! ) but the shape wasnt quite right, so back to the long way making the rubbers from 10thou and gluing them into the hole i cut yesterday. The glue needs to set before I do the other side tomorrow then it is just a question of lasering the glazing 20thou undersize
