It was good to put names to faces this weekend, even though i spent most of Saturday in the car park, and still came away with some good deals for my builds.

I was rather disappointed with more than one of the large 4mm/00 layouts at Railtex. Whilst the quality of landscape and building modelling was excellent, there were too many lengthy waits to see trains moving. Why, so often, are fiddle yards full to overflowing whilst paying customers have only empty tracks to look at?

I know it's realistic to have long intervals between trains on an absolute block signalled railway, but at an exhibition don't we go to see trains moving?

Despite that frustration it was a good show>

For me, Railex, as usual, provided a variety of layouts, from perpetual movement tailchasers, to layouts where operation was key. In other words there was something for everyone. If you don't like it move along, and let someone who appreciates it have a look.

A huge "thank you" to David and all organizers and participants........ photographs of the exhibits, a great record of a wonderful event.
My thanks too for the photos, much appreciated if one isn't able to attend.

I'm happy to take photos and will be more careful to cover all layouts next time, not just those which interest me! I had hoped that there may have been more competent photographers than me present. I'll not be lugging a DSLR and lighting around though, for obvious reasons.

I add my thanks to David as well.

We have crunched numbers and it seems we had 3150 visitors an all time record for Railex, I think it does prove that a show aimed at the modeller rather than the family does work.

We don't do Thomas for the kids or dumbing down, hopefully good modelling can be appreciated by all.

I would also like to put my thanks for the photos of this exhibition, much appreciated. Aylesbury is a very historic piece of modelling, I remember seeing it it the old MRN many years ago.

Thank you and the photos are fine.

I'm surprised thrilled and rather humbled by the reaction to my rather poor photos. Thanks for your kind comments.

I'll try to remember the camera next time, but it still won't be the DSLR!
