Peter's workbench. A Dukedog

Just love those Dukedogs, I have my third one under the bench when I get the time to build it. The Javelin kit is lovely to build. Yours looks splendid in BR black livery.

Thanks Ken. All sort of ground to a halt. Time at the bench has been at a premium looking after young pedro, Christmas and decorating..

Also had a major mojo failure with this. As when testing it seems to only run at half speed forwards. So I need to get the wheels off to free up the motor gearbox to test. If I need a new unit it will be months before I get it. I have nothing here that would fit.

Has anyone else had this problem with Slater's motor gearbox units?

For sometime I've had a running problem with this. Would always go faster in reverse than forward. Today I have cured it.
Whilst building I changed my mind about how the side beams. I had opened up the beams to use a shouldered screw. But I never did the frames, and put it together with plain screws. So lots of movement in the side beams. I also washed out the gearbox. Wow what a difference. Like having a different loco on the track. Now to get it finished off.

Well having finally sorted out the running. I got some of my mojo back. Just a couple of tiny bits to sort out. One being the fallplate as the cutout for the brake standard is in the wrong place. I also have a intermittent short on one tender brake shoe. Guess who's multimeter is playing up too.b.jpgc.jpg

I have enjoyed this build or should I say finishing and rebuilding of this kit. Be nice to do a clean one.
The compensation seems to work a treat. Which is pleasing as i will use the same method for my 4-4-0 when I build it.
Will hopefully have the dukedog all boxed away after Easter. The S15 is all but there now too.
