Paul, congratulations on the article about Old Parrock in September's Railway Modeller, very nice write up and excellent photos of what is a very photogenic layout, all your own work but very well presented by the RM. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Many thanks for the kind comment Bowlly. I'm actually very pleased with it because I think they've set it out in an interesting way with photos arranged around the text. It's all packed away at the moment but I'll be setting it up in a weeks time to get it all tested, ready for the Andover Show on 31st August.

Paul, I saw your layout at Andover yesterday and just wanted to say how much I enjoyed it. Thank you for creating a glorious piece of Sussex in miniature, aside from my personal pleasure tracking your layout down led me back to WT, so on more than count thank you.

Thank you so much for that very kind note John - I really do appreciate it. We had a lovely day at the Andover Show. It was nice because we had plenty of space although when we set Old Parrock up in a big hall it does suddenly looks very small! However, it all ran well and our next outing is at Rapido Railex at the end of the month, its last show of the year. Before that I have a terrier driver to glue back in - he drove all Saturday with Bluetack squished under one foot!

Also thank you for letting me have a look at your "train turntable", sprung components identified and ordered, god bless Ebay!

I was having a look at some MR exhibitions on YouTube and Old Parrock was featured in one, I think it was the National Festival of Model Railways, not 100% certain, but my main comment here is that it looked like it was 7mm.....the detail as I think I have said before is stunning.
The cameraman (person!!) had really done your model justice. Excellent, I was mesmerised.
Cheers Julian

I'm sorry for my slow reply - Christmas commitments and all that! Thanks for your comments about the Model Rail article. Actually, I'm somewhat embarrassed by the amount of coverage of Old Parrock but it's very pleasing nonetheless.

One thing though - this one seems to imply that I'm a competitive type (I didn't write the article). I really don't see myself in that way. As we all know, the cameo competition was friendly and collaborative and I loved that aspect of it. I've made a lot a great friends through Western thunder and that competition.

Meanwhile, my modelling has gone off in other directions again and I'm currently upgrading a 7mm loco - actually the C2X which is featured as my WT logo. I'm sorting out the chassis and repainting it in BR Black. I've tried so many projects since Old Parrock that it's getting ridiculous - but I may be settling at last. I'm sure some of you know the feeling.

Happy Christmas everyone.

I've Just been watching Old Porrock on You Tube -

Pre-Grouping Model Railway Layouts - Part 2/2

I didn't notice the caption at the start of the film.... and like Joe's Garage I could have sworn it was in 7mm scale ..... absolutely brilliant modelling. You have a very keen eye and skilled hands.

Thank you Collett, that's a very kind comment. I haven't actually seen that video so I'll search it out. The layout has had a rest from shows for a few months now, and we're next out at the Manchester Show on 13th/14th December.
