I can’t believe how good this layout is. Don’t want to offend anyone else, but might be my favourite WT thread?

I invite myself to shows, never been "told off" as most exhibition managers are looking for new layouts and are glad to be informed.

To be honest we have had offers of invites from the early days of the layouts construction. We prefer not to be in the position to have to rush and compromise the layout for the show deadline. The idea was to have the layout and ourselves to be a good level of exhibition readiness before it was let loose on the public.

The layout isn't 100% done as there are still some stock and details to add. But we hope the Normanton show organisers will be pleased with what we have to bring to their show.

Has anyone from GOG asked you to attend a show with this layout . If you were at Guildex this year that would possibly persuade me to go and it's a long flight , 20 plus hours .
The attenrion to detail and the atmosphere is truly gobsmacking

The layout is in effect presented as a model of a back street urban scene with a railway in it.
You've certainly achieved your goal. The layout looks superb and the added details really bring the scene to life. I hope very much to see it in-the-flesh some time.
The only improvement, in my view, would be more WDs. Mind you, any layout would be improved by more WDs.
Dave.

Despite the unfortunate hospitalisation of Colin the groups resident cabinate maker. A group of us have come together today and made a fair job at crafting the all layout covers to protect it in both transport and storage.

Admittedly, we probably took 3 times the number of hours to make them that he would of.

Fingers crossed the next time these covers come off it will be at the show next weekend.

Lovely job, might a cover over those tortoises (a shell perhaps :)) ) be a wise precaution?

and though I don’t know him, best wishes to Colin!

I see what you did there Simon, tortoise shell...

Had similar thoughts myself. Amazing how stuff on the underside of boards can get caught or knocked when loading and unloading. They do look a couple of inches in from the base but somehow still look vulnerable.

I'm going to make a real effort to get up to see this layout next Saturday, been a real inspiration to me.

My last baseboards were made of foam so the Cobalt motors sit in a slot which has been cut in it.

A ready made protective surround!
