Thanks for all the input on this, I've almost certainly decided to add an extra board to take it to 12 feet (!!!), I've even put aside the slats ready to start sawing.

That would give me so many more options on what to do, and give a little extra for a run, instead of just popping in and out of a fiddle yard like a meerkat. Peepo!
