Loco coal wagon

I have not posted for awhile because we moved house in December last year. Hopefully the alterations and decorating has been completed to my good lady's satisfaction. I have lost my large workshop in the move and now only have a small den in the small bedroom. But the move has been positive because of the location and amenities which help both of use live a better life.

One of the last wagons I built in the old house was a LNWR 2 plank dropside wagon. I have started on another 2 plank wagon for the same railway but this time a fixed sided one. Both these are the basic simple wagons from around 1900, not very glamorous but are a staple diet of the railways of that era.View attachment 247646View attachment 247647View attachment 247648View attachment 247643View attachment 247645View attachment 247644
Is this a scratchbuild ? It's very nice .

Thank you the comments. Yes it is scratch built like all my wagons. I occasionally try kit building but it usually ends in tears because I try and modify kits to my way of building things. Scratch building gives me control over issues like removing the wheels and brakegear for painting. One pet hate of mine is seeing a line of kit built wagon on exhibition layouts all with the side bent inwards when in reality the opposite was the case. Scratch building gives me the scope to pre bend the sides before assembly all with other advantages.
As I said we moved house 9 months ago and I have lost my large modelling room that j was going to build a layout in.
So unless I come into money ( very unlikely ) I will have to contend myself with building rolling stock and other bits,20250918_172645.jpg20250902_213723.jpg20250914_155219.jpg20250914_155251.jpg20250918_181438.jpg20250821_195032.jpg
