Thanks all, I was out pruning a few branches last week that are now drying out nicely in a warm cupboard indoors ready for the next batch.

First timber cut for Sonning. It will be modular for ease of storage, transportation etc. Plus some additional trees and scenics arrived

I would say it costs me about £15 to £30 to make the larger trees,

First scenic board I’m base coat, It was PVA’d and sanded yesterday. I usually use a spray paint for the base coat but I can’t seem to track any down!

Base cover of scenics started, the top grass covered area will be the tree covered area. It does look pants at the moment and will need to be built up in layers.

Second day, top area has had a covering of autumnal 4mm grass and 6mm straw coloured grass. The lower area had had the first pass of static grass. I’ve popped a few trees in place but will need many more. The ply fascia will be covered by Kirtley models weathered concrete papers.

Another pass this morning using two green shades and one straw, 4.5mm and 6mm strands

Lots more yet Larry, many more trees and scrub growth around the tree line in particular.

Small additional details, Polak and Modelscene bushes added today. A few more spruce trees from GModels also arrived, once the MBR trees arrive I will use the spruce trees a little more sparingly all over the layout.

Another tree completed today, the Jarvis 10mm grass arrived so this was mixed with Noch hay 6mm and mininatur 4.5mm autumn green

Repositioning a few trees last night. Another forest in a box kit ordered this time I’ll use these as individual trees to fill in along the back to blend in to the backscene. Until the MBR trees arrive none of the current trees are permanently fixed.

A delivery today from MBR of their superb trees! Also a full forest in a box set flocked up and added along the rear plus the backscene has been glued in place. Even got my self a hot glue gun !

A little splash of colour. There will be plenty of scrub type bramble blackberry bushes to hide the join from scenic board to backscene but my preferred supplier ( Polak ) are currently out of stock. I do have some coming from MBR along with another 20 trees but I’m guessing that order will be a month or two away yet.

Planting some ferns, nettles and thistles today. These small detail will be lost really as there’s a 4 track main line in front of this section, still it’s nice to know they are there and even better when some one points them out at a show.

One of my trees was looking a little undernourished in the foliage department so I’ve given it a coating of the same noch 2.5mm summer meadow grass. I think it’s come up very nice. I’ll be doing a few more like this. Blends in better with the printed trees on the backscene as well
