Quite a few modifications evident between the early GCR condition and my mid-1950s BR era. Besides LNER changes (chimney, dome, relief valves, mechanical lubricator, push-pull VCR equipment, etc.), 67421 had acquired the rivetted tank and bunker patches and some C14 parts by that time (cab roof, sand boxes, at least), so was a sort of hybrid.

Not much modelling activity recently, partly due to a lack of motivation. However, following receipt of the etched sand pipe support brackets, I have now made up and fitted the front and rear sand pipes. The loco originally had deep sand boxes and fairly straight forward sand pipes. However, in the period modelled, this loco had acquired smaller C14 sand boxed which required re-routing of the pipes, especially at the front, where the new pipes have to joggle out and then back in to pass outboard of the front brake hangers and resulting in a tricky shape. I always find sand pipes a bit of a challenge, and these were right up there, not helped by me making a design error requiring cutting and splicing of the front brackets!
Here they are, painted and fitted.

Another minor addition has been fitting some etched, 3.2 mm diameter, discs to the ends of the axles on one side, where the axles didn't come flush with, or very slightly proud of, the wheel boss.

Here's 67421 posed with its non-driving trailer coach, half of a two coach push-pull train.

The coach had started life as a GCR full first. It was then concerted to a composite and finally, in 1933, to a push pull non-driving trailer. As part of the conversion work, the end 1st compartment was made into a small guard and luggage area.
At the time of my interest, in ran connected to a 12 wheeled driving trailer, built in 1905, which may have started life as a steam motor. An altogether interesting and unusual vehicle, still in LNER brown in the mid 1950s.
Both these coaches were built by Larry Goddard in OO and converted to P4, with replacement bogies, by me.

Lovely work on the loco, and that's a great 12-wheeler: there's something about 12 wheel coaches that always catches my eye.
