Krynio's GCR Drawings: A Digital Reconstruction Project

Hello everyone,

Following on from my introduction, I'd like to begin sharing some of my work from a project I'm deeply passionate about.

To start with, here is my detailed General Arrangement drawing of a GCR Class 8N (later LNER Class B6) locomotive.

A bit of background on this piece: to the best of my knowledge, the original works drawings for the B6 are not publicly available. Therefore, this drawing is my own reconstruction, meticulously created from scratch. It has been pieced together based on the detailed analysis of countless historical photographs, with the goal of being as accurate as possible for fellow modellers and for a book I am currently compiling.

As an author's touch, I have added the GCR numberplate of arms and the "GREAT CENTRAL" lettering to the tender, which were not typically present on the original works drawings. This was done to present a more complete and contextual view of the locomotive as it would have appeared in service.

I am sure there are many experts here who know this class inside out, and I would be incredibly grateful for any feedback, corrections, or insights you might have.

I've attached two versions for you to see (watermarked to protect the work):

  • The clean, digital line art version for technical clarity.
  • An 'aged paper' version for a more historical feel.
Thanks for taking a look!

All the best,
KRYNIO
