I don't know whether this is any help...... I was given a collection many years ago by the father in law of a friend most of which comprises photos taken before the second world war. This is not LNWR but perhaps is not dissimilar to the LNWR shed plates. We believe this is dated between September 1932 and July 1934 at Euston and is "Patriot" 5966 which became 5512, "Bunsen". Shed 1 was Camden until 1935 when it became 1B.

It probably is LNWR John. In LMS days some were moved to the smokebox just like that, and eventually replaced by the cast LMS type.

Excellent, thanks guys and the shed plates are going on today . I have painted my driver and fireman with green coats and black trousers . There was an enquiry by someone on RM Webb which turned up on the LNWR forum and it appears green was the order of the day . If its wrong then its only a bit of paint .

Froggatt's bible "Railway Buttons, Badges & Uniforms" confirm you are correct. You're doing a great job John both with your modelling and advertising the Premier Line!

Looks like the old Barry Jones artwork. He drew that from an article I wrote in the LNWRS Journal, with measurements taken from a grounded body at Bletchley. I think its quite good but be aware that the Guard's door on the grounded body had been cut off half way up, so the drawing prepared by my brother Bob showed it blank, with an explanatory note in the text. But Barry drew the top of the door solid whereas it should have a droplight and you may want to cut a hole in the etch to match all of the photographs.

Slightly of topic but I am in the process of building some 30ft 1" coaches. My problem is the positioning of the rain strips there are no measurements in the instructions or markings on the roofs. Any help would be appreciated, I have a person who has volunteered to climb over the Picnic Coach which is being restored but as there might not be any scaffolding might not be wise.

I think the information is in Philip Millard's LNWR 30'1" Carriages book published by the LNWR Society. I think it is out of print but there are copies on ABEBooks. Not sure where my copy is at the moment.

It sort of does Overseer - There is one end view drawing which shows the rainstrip which could be measured, but that's all. The Picnic Saloon The Picnic Saloon Trust rainstrips were removed and refitted to align with the original marks and holes but as Murray wants the measurement in the centre of the side and the doors are only at the ends, there's nothing to stand on to see - need to get some steps or ladder there.

John I have only just started cutting the parts out but I am starting with the D425 Parcels van and for once have read the instructions such as they are. I originally started with the 42ft Picnic coach but found some major bits missing ie the complete under frame but the new owners of Gladiators ( I purchased from the previous owner) are supplying replacement parts and have sent updated instructions.
Looking at the book on 30ft 1" coaches might have to do a gutter too one problem at a time.
