Not entirely true Martyn. At shows I enjoy shunting the yard as that's done from the front control panel, which means I can chat to the punters and keep an eye on what the layout looks like - and level of action etc from a viewer's perspective.

On running evenings, I must admit it's normally Brian or Roger knocking the wagons about:)

Angle of photo or not, it certainly looks the business! Hope I can achieve similar results.

The motion on that 4MT is just right, wonderful. :)

Perhaps that lamp is just a bit on the clean side? It does 'sing out' a little, but the overall effect is just sublime.

No perhaps about it Adam. Clive realised he'd forgotten to fit a lamp, so he borrowed a new one for the photos. I didn't realise it would show up quite so much until I processed the photos later. However, it will appear in front of the cameras again as we intend to get a picture of all 3 of Heyside's Ivatt 4s together, and the matter will be rectified then:).

Glad to hear that Richard - it serves to remind me though: paint up some lamps; I've a 4mm loco lacking them...

All lamps have to start out life somewhere along the line - I'm guessing new ones were not weathered prior to issue from the loco stores ;)

Thanks to Richard, Tony and Adam for your kind comments regarding my Ivatt 4MT.
Nice video's Richard, but I must apologize for rather sudden acceleration of the Ivatt during the third clip - the guard was probably left behind in the four-foot! It was only a single step speed increase on the controller, so I have done a bit of chip tuning and smoothed things out now.
Incidentally, the cab doors are held against the tender side sheets with miniature magnets - if anyone wants to know more I might be persuaded to reveal the secrets......

Hi Len,

The miniature magnets I used are 2mm diameter x 1mm. They are readily available on Ebay - just search Ebay for 'Neodymium magnets 2mm x 1mm' - you will be surprised how cheap they are. I used two on each door, one each side of the doors, and on the rear edge - north pole to south pole, and they hold themselves in place while you add a little superglue. The insides of the tender side sheets are lined with thin tinplate glued in place - I used 0.15mm plate. The magnets will slide on the tinplate when the loco negotiates a curve.
