Bristol Barrow Road

Having lurked on this website for some time following my good friends Mike G and more recently 45609 Morgan, I thought it time to introduce myself and my layout Bristol Barrow Road.
I am originally from Bristol and spent time in my teenage years visiting the engine sheds in Bristol prior to their closure in the mid 1960's. Barrow Road became the last of the three Bristol Sheds and was the former Midland Railway Roundhouse situated on the line from Bristol Temple Meads to Gloucester, Cheltenham, Birmingham, Derby, and stations to Newcastle.
I have wanted to make a model of this shed for a long time but have never had the space. In the interim I focused my interest on the Cromford & High Peak Railway exhibiting a model of Sheep Pasture in P4 at many exhibitions from 1999 to 2019.
On retiring in 2014, a move of house enabled construction of a shed large enough to embark on my latest project Bristol Barrow Road in P4.
Much progress has been made over the past 15 years and for now I will let the attached photos show the current position of the layout.

Mike G recently made a Comet Engineer's Inspection Saloon for me which he brought around during a recent visit. Here it is behind 58072 - a Bachmann 1P which I converted to P4 during inspection of my recently laid ballast.

I built the model of Lawrence Hill Junction Signal Box some time ago and it is at kit of laser cut parts produced for me by Chris Denning whilst at York Modelmaking.
I fitted the interior with levers from the masokits range and added lighting using LEDs.
The signalman can been seen at the far window.
I need to add the bottom steps before he has an accident.

My latest small project has been to fabricate the screen between the coaling plant and the main line positioned to prevent lumps of coal damaging passing trains during operation of the coaler.
As with most of the buildings and structures on the layout this has been made to be capable of removal in order to access other parts of the layout or carry out repair if and when required.
With the in mind the screen is formed of 2.4mm square brass with the diagonal bracing from 2mm x 1mm brass section. The screen timber is made of lengths of 3.3mm track ply.
Here are a few photos the first showing the actual screen for comparison.

Next is the model prior to a coating of grey primer
and finally the screen fitted in position before painting and weathering.

Superb! It's a fantastic layout, I really like those houses, which just shout Bristol and North Somerset.
