Thanks Paul but, as I illustrated above, cobbles are not actually needed here as they wouldn't be appropriate anyway.

This is not so at the fiddleyard exit at t'other end of the layout where my Skytrex cobbles will find a home and rail levels will be appropriate! Here's the inspiration for that end:

No matter, as the Swansea prototype had ash or tarmac between the checkrails:

If you elect to take the tarmac/asphalt option I can recommend AK Interactive Terrains Asphalt.



It dries the colour of the square repair patch and can be lightened by weathering to repersent dry asphalt which has a light grey appearence. Wet tarmac and asphalt appears black.

It could then carved when dry as I did here.
