Apologies for the recent outage.

Hi,

My apologies for the outage today - this one I'm relieved to say was not of my making. It was our web hosting supplier having a major outage starting this morning.
Service Alerts - Zen and unfortunately we're on shcp04 , one of the listed servers.

It appears to be back and working as normal, well as normal as WT would claim to be, and nothing appears to be missing. So there may be brief off line periods if they need to make further tweaks. They've not closed the alert yet so it's still being worked on / monitored as far as I am aware.

Regards

Adrian

Not a problem at all for me, though I did sit down with a wagon kit and some spare materials and was on the brink of actually starting it when the site came back up. So thankfully I can now read other people's posts instead of committing myself.

@adrian I found your update on RMWeb earlier today, it was most thoughtful to post there because it was then easy to see the outage might be for a while. Thank you for the continued provision of WT!

Thanks for the feedback it is appreciated. Yes comms in this situation is difficult. I used to use Twitter to push out system down time messages but since Phoney Stark and rebranded it X it's became a cesspit of vitriol so I deleted my account. Also object to and refuse to do Facebook and Instagram on principle too.

However I do have a potential solution that I think will work but it's going to be the end of the month before it'll be ready.

Well, whilst acknowledging the medical end-of-life care requests of those calling 111, RMWeb is a fair place to share updates. I mean, we know to try looking there and if they lose the occasional graphic we will still get the gist of progress messages :)

@adrian - Thanks as ever for your continued administration of WT.

In respect of messages is there an offline option to send a simple e-mail message to WT members as we receive them when a member sends a PM?

If the platform was not functioning an email shot probably couldn’t be sent from the server using the membership database.
Were an individual to send a bulk email, it would require them to have access to, or hold a copy of, members‘ email addresses - which would entail said individual and their device being fully compliant with the Data Protection Act.

As time went on I concluded that of the two most likely causes, it was marginally more likely to be a server issue than me having been banned.
Best to just sweat it out?
