Unfortunately I had the misfortune of travelling on the GW (late trains :rant:) to Reading last Saturday for the O scale traders show. However, out of curiosity I did look out for the remains of Ranelagh Bridge stabling yard.

Obviously the houses which form your backdrop are there and no doubt you'll have these spot on. I noticed they were painted white or white stucco which I presume is a late 20th century modification. Will you be finishing yours in this fashion or more than likely yellow brick with smokey weathering. I would assume from their architectural style they are either late Georgian or Victorian therefore more likely to be built from yellow brick.

BR paid to have the rear of Gloucester terrace renovated around 1966. It involved the removal of the lower extensions, replacing the windows and rendering and painting. I believe BR had to maintain the finish for as long as locos used the stabling point.
I will be aiming for the earlier option when everything was covered in a thick layer of filth, from the colour shots I do have it does look like they are built out of yellow brick.
The turn table was removed in September 1964 so that is my cut off point.

Yep you're right about the bricks they're London Yellow Stocks made from London yellow clay.A staple for most of "The Smokes"buildings from the Eighteenth Century onward they just didn't stay yellow long!
The Bricks give me opportunity to say Ranelagh Bridge IMHO is becoming finely observed "moment in time"
By the way how is your mates "Suburbiton "developing? With an avatar like 2-Bil i had to ask...

Here is a comparison between the new 3D printed laser scanned lamps ( centre ) DJH ( right ) and Lee marsh / Hobby Horse ( left )
The DJH and Hobby Horse have the sleeves that need opening out to sit over the lamp brackets and until now I've had to file the lamp brackets to suit.
The new ModelU lamps have a recess in the under side that sit straight over the lamp brackets with no need for any modifications to the lamp brackets. This also does away with the slightly bulbous appearance of the other lamps. Whilst the ModelU method is not prototypical it works very well and certainly doesn't detract from the quality of the product.
The lamps are supplied with jewels to add after painting and I think LED bulbs could be fitted quite easily.
These lamps are another in a growing line of quality products from Alan Buttler at ModelU and are definitely worth a look, after all every loco needs at least one lamp.

Well you start with a curved top T.T. and do a bit of work to it. I'll let Steve tell you some more. I think that the mods are covered on this thread.

Power feeds and wiring up the table ... I am looking for inspiration as I am getting towards that bit with my turntable on 54E so I will follow this bit with even more interest.
